Cosmic Kids founder Jaime Amor has made a series of videos for Children’s Mental Health Week 2023.
Cosmic Kids
Cosmic Kids has a long-term strategy for engaging and fun sessions to get kids moving for their mental health and well-being. That plan includes this initiative. Nearly 50 million hours of Cosmic Kids videos have been watched over the past ten years.
Cosmic Kids has made a five-part video series that kids can watch every week to learn positive, useful ways to improve their emotional health. Along with the video series, Amor will also visit schools all over the country during the week. In addition, a bundle titled “Mental Health Superpowers Cut-Out-and-Keep” has been made available to all primary educators and parents at no cost. It contains brain snacks in bite-sized pieces that are intended to support children’s mental health.
Amor, who has been dubbed the “modern-day Mary Poppins,” has received support from the European Space Agency (Amor recently performed Yoga in Space with ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, the female commander of the International Space Station), as well as from the Kardashians and Paul McCartney.
Children’s Mental Health Week
Over the past ten years, Amor has provided a variety of mental and physical health content for children. Cosmic Kids is the most widely used brand in the world for kids’ yoga and mindfulness because it is used in over 250,000 schools. Cosmic Kids is watched by 3.5 million children each week.
This year’s Children’s Mental Health theme is “Let’s Connect.” Making meaningful connections is everything. People thrive in communities, and this connection is crucial to our well-being. Strong connections to family, friends, and others boost our mental health and well-being.
Jaime has just released a five-part video series. A fun new video highlighting a different aspect of positive wellbeing will be released each day. Each video in the series will begin with Jaime assisting the children in comprehending mental health and its significance. then a tool that is simple, enjoyable, and useful, and it is based on visualization, movement, relaxation, affirmation, and breathing. They can try it. Through the videos, children will be encouraged to form relationships with others that are valuable, healthy, and meaningful. Through their participation in Jaime’s Cosmic Kids activities, children acquire important skills.
Jaime Amor
It does not appear that Jaime is instructing children in ways that could improve their mental and physical health. They love the fun and danger of the adventures in which she plays every role, and they tell Jaime which new films or characters they would like to see explored through yoga.
Jaime claims that the physical and mental health benefits of sitting quietly with one’s thoughts not only aid children in processing difficult emotions but also in recognizing them in the first place. She feels a deep sense of responsibility for children.
Jaime is of the opinion that children sometimes need time to process their emotions, become aware, and familiarize themselves. Teaching children empathy and putting yourself in the shoes of other people, as well as comprehending that emotions come in all shapes and sizes, are essential.
Cosmic Kids puts all of its attention on how the kids interact with stories and movement. The story, in essence, teaches children how to feel the pain of difficult situations.
For instance, they can observe how they feel when suddenly alone in an unfamiliar location when Squish the Fish leaves them to seek assistance while they are exploring a shipwreck and attempting to open a locked treasure chest! They might be worried, anxious, afraid, or something similar.
They can examine their feelings, identify them, and try out some tools. We’ve found that rubbing our earlobes reduces stress. When they close their eyes, they “anchor” themselves to their happy place. Then, take a few Darth Vader breaths to help them relax and think clearly!
Mental and Physical Health
Through her videos, Amor aims to teach children to be resilient, recognize their feelings, and overcome challenges. She talks directly to the child, teaches them yoga poses, helps them become more self-aware and find calm equilibrium, and improves their strength, flexibility, and endurance. Everyone is permitted to participate and is invited.
Cosmic Kids Yoga is mostly fun and a big mood booster. 99% of parents say that using the program has improved their children’s physical and mental health. Self-esteem, focus, stress reduction, positive emotion recognition, mental centering, self-regulation, and coordination all benefit from Amor’s sessions.
Cosmic Kids Yoga
The mental and physical development tools at Cosmic Kids are wrapped in fun and imagination, so they never feel like heavy, serious, or laborious “techniques.” The objective is to make them understandable and relatable to children so that they can see how they could be useful in their own lives. Jaime’s motto has always been, “The kids must adore it!” It can only function in that way! Most importantly, it’s important for kids to laugh and scream during Cosmic Kids Yoga sessions because it’s so much fun for them!
It becomes second nature for children to use mental health tools from a young age. They are just a little bit more aware when they are going through intense emotions. In this instance, we are not discussing large-scale interventions; rather, we’re talking about getting used to paying attention to your thoughts on occasion. taking a few deep breaths to relax and unwind. or close your eyes and picture a place where you feel amazing.
